This is a photo of my late grandparents on holiday in Blackpool, they lived in Cheltenham Ave, Lower Ince. Before she married, her maiden name was Hilton.

This is just wonderful! This lady was my grandmothers sister. I contacted Colin regarding the Hilton family as I'd remembered my father telling me some years ago we were related. If there is anyone out there who has photos or information relating to either the Hilton Family, or my grandmother Jane (this ladys sister)and her husband John Jones I'd be thrilled to hear from you.

Thank you so much Colin.

Christine.

Hi Josie, firstly, my condolences to Doreen, family and friends of Frank, and all who knew him.

Sorry but it wasn't me at Frank's funeral, although I am Jean's brother, and many thanks for you comments. Just that small snip of information could help piece together the search that Christine is looking for. Thankyou Josie.

You'll find the marriage of Robert & Elizabeth in December 1912 in our on-line Registers, along with his parents' marriage two days after his birth (May 13th & 15th) and his Baptism. Also there is the marriage in January 1921 of his sister, Jane to Daniel Swann, father of Hilda Bache, whose Funeral I took last month.
I scanned many of Hilda's family photos, and ephemera, among which was a double photo frame. One photo was of Daniel Swann, in naval uniform, and the other was of his brother-in-law, in army uniform. You'll find it under 'Assorted - War Related' in the Album Index. I've mistakenly said the brother-in-law was Thomas in the caption.
Robert and Elizabeth had a son, Gordon, born in April 1934. He married Dorothy Groves, who still attends St Mary's. He died in 1994. Other Harlow relatives are around in Lower Ince. The records appear to show that his elder sister, Jessie, married John Green in January 1934.

Thankyou Rev David Long, for your valuable information. Robert and Elizabeth Harlow had five children. Jessie, Thomas, Nellie, Gordon and Alan. My father Thomas, joined the Wigan Territorials before the 2nd world war and served with them in France until the time of the Dunkirk evacuation. Afterwards he served three years in India before being demobilised. The only surviving member of Robert and Elizabeth's children is Alan, who lives at Cheltenham Ave, Lower Ince.

My Mother (grand mother) and Grand dad Harlow had six children, Robert (died as a child), Jessie, Alan, Nellie, Tom and my dad Gordon (the youngest).
I remember (Hilda Batch RIP) and Jane Hilton (also RIP). Jane used to live in the bungalows behind the old post office in Lower Ince on the small estate where my Mother and Grand dad used to live in Cheltenham Ave. I think Jane had a grand daughter who lives in Harewood Road Hindley (not 100% sure, sorry I don't know her married name.
My dad and mum (not Dorothy who is his second wife) had four children, Angela, Sandra, Carol and June).
Lots of Harlow's in the Ince area, lots I've never even met. My cousin Alan or older sister Angela may know more about the Hilton side of the family.
Hope this helps

The order of children of Robert and Elizabeth are Jess, Tom, Nell, Alan and Gordon. The Harlow Name continues because of Tom's Six Sons. The Harlow name will grow and grow.
