Billy had everything, speed, power, guile etc.,. The top photo was taken at his very first game for Wigan 'A' team. The hype brought in 8,500 spectators in 1953 to watch this Welsh wizard.
He started as he meant to continue by scoring tries, below he crosses again for another in his career total of 571.
A player like Billy only comes along once in a generation or two, if you're lucky, and Wigan can thank their lucky stars he signed for them. The team was struggling (by Wigan standards) and he had to wait 5 years before silverware was brought to Central Park in 1958.
Billy was unique, a one off. I'm pleased to say I was one of thousands of spectators who Billy brought to their feet by his incredible exploits on the rugby field.

I couldn't agree more. A legend in the truest sense of the word.

I remember seeing his brother playing at Central Park, he looked like Billy but the "extra special something" just wasn't there, I suppose it was the magic Billy had that no one else possessed.

Couldn't agree more with the above comments. I was lucky enough to have watched Billy in his prime, he was a one off. When my cousin went to Central Park he just used to say " I'm going to watch Billy B".
