The Rev WH Davey, vicar of St Mark's and his brother Harry, also a priest. The vicarage where the Rev Davey spent most of his life is being demolished at present to make way for some town houses. I remember going in there to see him when Edna and I were getting married. We were in St Mark's parish but attended Highfield, so we had to get his permission!

According to the 1936 Liverpool Diocesan Calendar and Clergy List, the Vicar of St Mark's since 1929 was James Norris Davey. Ordained in 1921 he served as Curate at St Catherine's (sic) (21-25), and as Crate-in-Charge of St Peter, Bryn. He was also a Surrogate, which meant he could witness affidavits for couples requiring a Licence to marry. His brother, Canon Thomas Arthur Edward Davey was a Residentiary Canon of the Cathedral and served as the Cathedral Treasurer from 1931. Ordianed in 1916, he served as Curate at St Paul, North Shore, Kirkdale, (16-19), but was also a forces Chaplain to the BEF, so I suppose he was in France then. He was next Curate of St Paul, Widnes (19-21), and at Blundellsands in 1922. Interestingly, he preceded his brother as Vicar of St Mark's, from 1923-29, before moving to St Alban, Bevington, Liverpool (29-31).
