Amelia Walker b.1883, Hindley. Married Peter Burns 1908. Daughters Amelia b.1913, Charlotte b.1915. Peter burns killed on the "Somme "in France.
A lovely photo Josie and how very sad. We are all used to seeing the pictures of the battlefield cemeteries; row upon row and column upon column of white headstones and crosses. This is the other side of the human cost that you rarely see the face of. A wife and mother will be widowed whilst still young in years, and two little children will have to grow up, having been so young at that time that the memory of their father will, to all intents and purposes, be nil. Lest we ever forget!

She had 2 son`s who died in infancy,before having her girls.Peter Molyneux is a relative to this lady & her family.
