Brock Mill Lane, Wigan. Scanned from an old postcard. Postally used 1906.
These are the gates to my home, Sicklefield House. The gate posts are still there. The House was built in 1818 by Molly Penson who had Mills down Penson Street/Coppull Lane Wigan. She appears to own half of Wigan, from the details I have. I have a picture of the fields and woods looking down the drive taken in 1900. It looked gorgeous, as if Capability Brown had designed it. Does anybody have any early pictures of Sicklefield House. Despite search, I have never found any pics of the house.
I have an oil portrait of 1810, of Mary, daughter of John and Molly Penson. Regards, Alan.
