And what would it's name have been seeing that it was approachable from the Parbold side near Parbold Hall . My late father used to caddy there as a young boy .

Does anyone know what the Club House looked like and where it was located on the Golf Course? Does anyone know why it closed down which I think it did sometime around 1950? Thanks

The name of the club was Appley Bridge Golf Club and closed in 1952, due to financial reasons. The last champion of the club was Tommy Bowen, from 'Dangerous Corner'. He later went to Gathurst Golf Club and was a real local character.
The clubhouse situation I am not sure of but I think was approached from Parbold Hill

Many thanks for this information - very much appreciated. Would you know what the Club House was like - I assume it may have been a wooden structure but I can't be certain of that

I lived on stoneygate lane and used to go through fairy glen to what used to be the golf course searching for golf balls with my mates. We would come back with maybe up to 100 golf balls between us.This would have been in the mid 1950s.At that time there were cattle grazing on the course but the greens were still there. There is still a right of way right across what was the golf course from the boundary of fairy glen to the bottom of Parbold Hill opposite Lancaster lane.Nice walk from Stoneygate lane through the glen to Parbold in the summer,a bil boggy going across the old golf course in winter due to being churned up by the cattle which still graze there
