I was born in Wigan in 1945. My parents and Grandparents where also born there. Although my parent and i moved to the midlands with my Dads job just before the end of the war we still visited Wigan 3 or 4 times a year. My paternal grandmother had three sisters, one each in Ince, Hindley and one at Skull House Appley bridge. On the trips north I was always taken along when my Dad went to visit his parents and "The Aunties" I have been taken to see Aunty Lizzy Ann at Skull House several times as a single digit kid and can't remember much about it. I always thought that it was a small stone cottage not like the large building depicted in some articles that I have read. I was shown the skull and told the story behind it. I seem to remeber it being built into a small cupboard adjacent to the fireplace. The only other family member who had been there passed away a few years ago and I am the last of the Nelson family that would know about Skull House. I moved to Canada when I was 24 and although I visited the UK including Wigan on occasion it is only since certain things have come to light that my interest has be rekindled. If my family name means anything to anyone who can help me piece together my recollections of Skull House please drop me an email.
Thank you
I can look you family up on the Censers if you give me some names
