ernie had two brothers as i remember john and walter the latter being the landlord of the raven in wallgate in i think the 60s and certainly 70s
Hi All, I have a number of maps and photographs of the former Hemfield House, 65 Hemfield Road, WN2 2EZ I also have the whole history of this house to, and the people who have owned it, from 1869 till this day infact I have the paper work to show they owned all the land surrounding Hemfield House, some 55.5 acres, some very important people lived in Hemfield House, in 1869 one Man was Thomas Percy he was the assistant manager for Wigan coal and iron company, his father Francis Percy was the manager for Wigan coal and iron company and lived in Kirkless hall, there is a stone plaque on the front in Ince town hall Thomas Percy was chairman of Wigan Council, and him and Francis also had a lot to do with the mining industry, if you look on Wigan World go to stuff, ince Directory 1869 you will see Thomas Percy was a private resident, infact Hemfield Road, the first and last house there is a wall plaque naming the terrace row, Percy Terrace these houses were built for the miners, if you would like to know any more about the house or surrounding land and see the photos of Hemfield House, 65 Hemfield road please just post, or let me know where I can put all this history of Wigan coal and iron company.
Are you referring to Thomas Percy born around 1885, his father was Francis Percy manager at the smelter. We do not know much about Thomas and his brothers if you would have any information that would be most appreciated.
Hi yes I have got quite a bit about WCIC and the Percy family where they lived dates and positions in WCIC and also have been contact with a relative in Australia
