Walk along the canal from the bridge on Appley Lane towards Parbold for maybe a quarter of a mile, you'll find the twin locks, only one of which is still in operation.
This is a rare photograph.
An even rarer one would be of the row of houses at the bottom right along the tow path.
One of the families who lived there was Kelsalls( Tony ) and another i think was Clements.

This is Dean Lock House, unless I am mistaken
Lorraine no its definitely the lock keepers house at Appley Locks. The buildings in the background to the right of the house are part of the old lino works (Thos Whitters)now Ruberoid
