View to Rivington taken from the top of the rise on Scot Lane circa 1960. I don't think it's changed that much here. There's a few more farm buildings perhaps and the substantial slag heap in middle distance has now gone.
My overall impression is that, somehow, the road doesn't look quite as nice as this now.

This is a lovely picture which brings back memories.
I lived in Scot Lane in the 40s/60s and remember this stretch quite well.
In front of the slag heap was a dirt track called Shoemaker Fold and I've recently discovered that my wife's ancestors lived there late 19th century and worked in the local mine

As a child I lived in one of the three houses that make up Barkers-de-lane (the white house you can see in the centre left background) in the 70's and 80's. As the previous poster has said the large slag heap has gone and was not there in my childhood, the smaller slag heap to the left of the picture is still there but is disguised by trees that have grown on it.

This is not from the top of the rise, it is further down the hill,I know Brian and Marie that live in this nice stone house on the right, Barkers De'Lane House brings back memeries of Ernie Jones he lived there about this time.

My grandmother was born at 6 Scot Lane in 1883 Dorothy Wilcox. It is really neat to see the area where se lived.
