This is the second British Legion Memorial Club I've come across in my War Memorials research (the other was at Newtown) - both now gone. This club (for the Abram, Bickershaw & Platt Bridge Branch of the Legion) appears in the background on a couple of shots of trams on Templeton Street, but was demolished, and a new club built on the Miners' Hall site on Lily Lane. Does anyone know when?

My dad was always involved with Platt Bridge British Legion holding the position of president on many occasions.

I remember the old club on the tramlines. It had a bowling green at the back. My uncle was on the committee. He often took me for a walk there when he wasn't working.
I think Mr.Daley looked after the bowling green.
I believe the new club was built around 1966.
It just wasn't the same.
