I've seen furlong after furlong of 'fences bound with wire' over the years, without me ever knowing the correct name for that type of barrier, that is, not until my very recent search revealed it to be, quite simply, Paling.
Perhaps, the magnificent-sounding 'Chestnut paling' had been installed ahead of DTease's handsome, shivering scene.
It's Christmas morning, the turkey is roasting in the oven, a steaming Christmas pudding simmering gently on the hob, the aromas of mulled wine and cinnamon fill the air, along with the pine needles gently falling on the carpet and presents below...mmm. And it's only August - is this the first Christmas card of the year?!
Don't forget the roaring coal fire.
Goes without saying Garry and the fine sherry - drizzled over the pudding with brandy! We'll all be sozzled before we've finished eating!
