I used to get the Film Revue magazine every month as teenager (6d)in the late 50's -60's but never kept them for long.Wish I had now.
I always bought a Film Review on a First Date. Trying to impress the incumbent 'Squeeze'
Wonderful! I used to get "Record Song Book" too, which gave the lyrics of all the latest songs, and I still have one, but wish I'd kept them all. Thankyou for posting this.
I was never a fan of Cliff but I loved the film 'Summer Holiday' I must have seen it a few times when it came out. What I liked about it was the gang travelling to all those countries in a red bus. Little did I know 3 years later I would go to Spain for a fortnight something I could never have visualised then seeing that film. I remember admiring all the clothes the girls wore especially Una Stubbs! Magic!
Veronica,I do like Cliff Richards..it's a good job we all don't like the same thing though isn't it,if you haven't heard it before,on utube listen to him singing 'Butterfly Kisses' it's a lovely little song.
I never watched Cliff perform live on stage, but I do recall seeing him from just a few yards away as he passed through the Parade Ring gate on Grand National Day 2006 and, also, how well he looked. Yeah, I reckon Cliff's been our best 'Rocker', and Move It his best single.
The 1963 album The Shadows Greatest Hits, included Stars Fell On Stockton, and the text mentions that Moonlight in Wigan, could have been this tunes alternative title, or words to that effect.
Ee, Our Philip! Moonlight in Wigan! What an old romantic, you little tinker. you!
Philip/ Irene I prefer Moonlight in Vermont!
Pennies in a stream
Fallen leaves of sycamore
Moonlight in Vermont.....
I loved The Shadows who can forget the dance moves when playing those guitars! I preferred them to Cliff! Sorry Maureen.
I'll let you off this time Veronica ha ha.
I've found The Shadows album sleeve that refers to the piece on Wigan. The Shadows were in Panto at Stockton in 1962, and when asked if there was any special significance to the Stars Fell On Stockton title, they replied, "No, it might just as well have been called Moonlight in Wigan." All in good spirit.
