I found this inside a book that I bought from a Car Boot sale. It is signed D.W Barrow. Is he a local artist?

Nice find DTease. Worth a frame around it me thinks.

D.W.Barrow is a local artist. This picture was produced on a post card some years ago I had a print made from the postcard and I have framed it.

This would have been a Postcard RON, it was cut down one side and left between the pages of the book.
It's a very atmospheric painting and I can understand why you would have it framed.

GW, has Ozy gone to Tittibong?

Comment by: GW. on 31st January 2018 at 20:20

More likely on a creative bus ride around Blackrod DTease.

I left a comment on p-a-d on Tuesday, DTease, asking where Ozy was. Hope he's okay.

If there are such things as ghosts the pier must be the most haunted place in Wigan. The picture is a marvellous depiction of how it was at that time.
Ozy is probably looking for a new boat and hiring another crew!

And that's my surname on the tipper Veronica. Indeed some ghostly ancestors are calling.

See what did I tell you Gdub ghostly happenings!

GW, your ancestor was a coal wagon?

Comment by: GW. on 1st February 2018 at 20:40

The Coalwagons were my mothers side of the family DTease.

Sorry GW I was on the wrong track. I do go off the rails a bit sometimes.
Cue groans from off.

I bought a framed print of this scene, although a lot larger than a postcard, I got it from The Framing Studio & Art Gallery that was at one time on Mesnes St.
