Another pic loaned by Irene Stone.
This view was taken when the stonework of the vestries, added in 1913, was very fresh, and untouched by industrial grime. The backs of the 'Spite Row' houses are visible on the left, and the school is seen on the right. See the scan of the reverse of this postcard shot which I will upload next.
There are no flag poles beside the turrets on the main roof. These are visible on later shots from this angle, and flags may be seen flying from them in the view of the Peace Gate taken from Church Street uploaded earlier. It may be that they were installed to carry flags celebrating the Armistice in 1918... but someone may know better....
