As a follow up to Mick Langton's excellent pictures of Westwood Power Station demolition, this is a photo that I took around that time.
A lone angler is undisturbed as across the canal Westwood Power Station is demolished on Thursday 7th of September 1989 following the cooling towers demolition on January 15th of that year.

Are we sure that this isn't a modern building going up?

Doughty indeed, was this angler, and also capable of ringing the changes; the rumble of far side activities being met with his decision to use the Swing Tip ('bottom fishing') method. Happy was this Westwood shikar.

Poet, I take it you are being ironic?

That angler was John Ralph who up to passing away a few years ago lived in Belle Green Lane.

Bill: It was nice of you to give the angler's name in full.
