In reply to Albert's comment in the previous photo, compare this taken Friday 1st Sept 2017 at midday.
Mesnes Park was a lot busier than in 1965.
It has been about 20 years since I walked through it last and the floral arrangements are to be credited as they were 52 years ago.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same". I'm not quite sure where that quote is from, but it seems to lend itself to Wigan Park.

Irene. Its a French saying "Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose" which literally means "The more it changes the more it's the same thing".

"Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose"

You've certainly strung these two photos nicely together, Barrie - the empty flower bed, shown on your recent photo, in readiness for autumn planting, perhaps. And what about Irene lending Monsieur Karr's epigram to the overall appeal of Mesnes Park. Nothing wrong with that, of course, and she's probably right; a park 'for all seasons'.

Thank you Barrie. Still a lovely scenic view, and may it always remain so.

Yesterday, today and hopefully tomorrow, the park will stay the same. It must be said the clarity of the photograph is vastly improved, even though the 1965 coloured picture is quite impressive for the time. I recall colour films becoming more available in the late sixties and early seventies. That was a step forward after the black and white films. Strangely to me -black and white photographs are now quite trendy!

I prefer the flower bed to the fountain.
