What a wonderful photo and what a lovely lady! How amazed she would have been to know we could all see her on the internet all these years after!

I think she was 85. Irene wouldn't all of our loved ones be amazed at things you can do these days. My lovely brother who died in 1986 would have loved all this technology.

I can remember our family having a party for my Grandma's 80th birthday...this photo just reminds me of it.This was in the early 1960's when birthdays were not celebrated as much as they are today. She had been in a road traffic accident a couple of years before (this was before breathalyser tests) and it was amazing that she pulled through....No claims or DLA or AA in those days , you just had to get on with it.You only realise how hard things were then when you are older yourself. She was pleased as punch because all her grandchildren were there, and I have a photo of it somewhere.
