Yes Stairgate Ron, the lump of concrete on the left is part of the carbuncle called the Civic Centre with Pennington's on the right.

All these nooks and crannys which made Wigan unique and interesting! I have never been in a more curious furniture store than Penningtons either!

One snowy evening I stood in station road waiting for folk to progress down stairgate on the ice and snow. it was steep about 1 in 3. folk had no chance of getting down safely..sorry to say I laughed till I ached
