Another interesting historical photo.The friendly society is till going but is really spelt "Rechabites"

Wigwann, (according to Google) the Independent Order of Rechabites was started in Salford by some Methodists as a Temperance Society in 1835. It's still going today as a financial friendly society, and still against alcohol !

As much as I admire them for their strong views it would be no good for me,my love of having a drink is to strong.

My Grandma & Mum used to live at The Surgery, 26 broad oth lane 1940s. Alice & Agnes Gore.
