i remember TREASURE HUNT with annika rice in wigan round about this time it could of been them.

I can remember a chatity event there in the eighties but not sure exactly when or what it was in aid of. There were some celebrities of the day there plus the Duke of Westminster who, so rumour had it, was one of the richest men in the world, but I remember he was very pleasant and down-to-earth.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. It's weird you mentioned Annika Rice because I've used to hear people say it was her, but always thought they were joking. I have a few other photos from the day, some with school kids running to meet the arrival of the copter, a shot of a cart going round the track with some tents in the background, and a shot of school children stroking a police alsatian in the back of a police van. No idea what that was about. I think this may have been around late 87, possibly July or August but not sure exact. Will upload them sometime. I had no idea celebrities or royalty attended this. I know a few TV celebs attended the Red Rose FM day, but this was about 1989 or 90.

As I said, Alan, I am very vague about the time of the event with the Duke of Westminster and the celebrities......that could quite easily have been the Red Rose Day you mention; I was just putting my two-pennorth in about what could have been the reason for the helicopter. The Anneka Rice programme sounds more in keeping with the photo.
