A poor photo (what do you expect from a Brownie 127?) but it is rich in atmosphere. Every Saturday morning a gang of us from Ashton ( Ian Bates, Roger Ward, Jimmy Cook, Philip Hodkinson)would travel from Bryn Station to Wigan for 5d return for a train spotting excursion. Bliss!

Caught the gas light in bottom LH corner. I remember those gas lights well: they were still in use through the 1960's.
I seem to recall that the station then, had no electricity, and the gas lighting was only replaced with electric on the occasion of a visit by HM Queen. (Date ?) Someone will no-doubt correct me if I have this wrong.

This brings back a lot of great memories! I used to spend hours there with my Uncle Jimmy Cunliffe who worked on Bryn Station.
