A decision was made during the 1980s to demolish all the maisonettes in the borough, these maisonettes, on Boucher road, were supposed to have been converted into a terrace of town houses, like the ones in Sefton road at Goose Green. But they were too badly vandalised so they were demolished, and new houses were built instead. (1989)

This is Baucher Road, Worsley Mesnes in 1989 with the maisonette flats awaiting demolition. There was another block where the grass is that went in 1984, with another block in Mesnes Avenue. Identical flats were at Scholes, and a single block in Whelley, and Dumbarton Green, Beech Hill that are long gone. The trio of high rise flats, Dryden, Thackeray, and Masefield House were demolished in 1991, in total contrast to the Scholes blocks that are once again being refurbished. Demolition of Masefield House was delayed because of a stubborn tenant called Fred Bourne who refused to move out.

Does anyone have any photos of the maisonettes being demolished and the town houses being built in Sefton road?
