Places like this gave Wigan a distinct identity, when they are lost a bit of character goes with them.

I used to go dancing here about 1955 does anyone else remember those days,I think Maureen Leonard might who was in a photo of office girls at clifton mills.

I remember being in Nativity performances in this hall when I was at St John's school in the early 1960s. It wasn't only a Parish Hall but was used by amateur operatic companies, and was invaluable.I remember it having an orchestra pit in front of the stage. It was a huge loss to the amateur companies when it went.

i remember the little house inbetween st johns dining hall and chesterfield house i would have loved to have had a look inside.
