The building is the Old Courthouse, which was administered by the Earls of Derby. The 'Eagle and Child' Derby family crest can still be seen on the rear of the building.

Yes, thenbuilding is still standing - just! The date on the stone is 1433!

Sorry to contradict you Jeff but I think the date is much later, 1833 to be precise.
