Tom Pey Wigan Borough Chief Constable 1921-1946 and Fr Whiteley of St Marys RC Church. Tom Pey 1879-1972 joined Wigan Police in 1900,became a sergeant in 1905,a Chief Clerk in 1907 and an Inspector in 1908.

Anyone remember Tim Pey who taught English at The Thomas Linacre.I believe his dad was the gentleman in the photo.You didn't mess around with Tim a very strict teacher.Wonder if he took after his dad.

No, Tom Peys son was the very strange and eccentric chap who used to wander round Wigan looking like a tramp talking to himself. Come to think of it, as an ex Grammar school pupilwho was there when it merged with the Thomas Linacre, it could well be one and the same person !!!! There were some very odd teachers around then. These days most of them would be sectioned or locked up for child abuse .
