I remember it well!! the old kittgreen post office. Anyone remember the Stringfellow twins who used to live in the end house on the left??

I remember a "secret passage" that ran behind this terrace - was probably a ginnel but to my enid-blyton-fevered brain it was always a secret passage!

Hi Brit Boy
I remember them (if they had red hair) They were always very pleasant.
Also there was a sort of archway somewhere near the Post Office and a cockrell used to crow there.. early morning and all through the day.
Do you remember the chip shop further down on the other side of the road?
Hope you are well.

I hid in the tunnel behind the post office once because I didn't want to go to school. Morris's owned the bungalow at the back and all the land.

Yes I remember the old post office, the chip shop accross the road, the old pit houses next the the old New Inn, I used to live in the Miners Arms next to Peter Street.

Hi Ronald, dad used to have the coal yard next to the Miners , I would be grateful if you would get in touch. I am trying to contact Uncle Bill, Auntie Marie and their son Stephen. I am presuming you are related to Uncle Alan and Auntie Madge

Used to take our own dishes so you'd get more in.

Hi Val
So sorry I have taken so long to reply. It’s lovely to hear that you remember us . Dad was Tom, mum Kath and do you remember Batman? Mum told me he lived in the yard! And yes I remember the chippy, and taking your own dish’s!! Mum died in may but I am sure she would have remembered you, she was amazing, I can’t remember last week.

Can anyone tell me when these were demolished and what is in place of them now. I am researching my family tree and we had family who stayed there i hope to visit Wigan soon with my mum and it will be nice to show her where her mum came from as she doesn’t know much about it.
