A photo taken in the late 60's of my grandparents kitchen in Warrington Road, Goose Green. Nothing fancy by a long stretch ! I remember that set of draws - always full of interesting things a young 5 year old could make use of. There was no hot water tap, just cold, so everything needing hot water was boiled in a pan or kettle.

Yes, the electric gas poker on the cooker had batteries in the handle, played for hours on ours and the automatic tea dispenser on the wall, pushed it once for a spoonfull and an extra one for the pot. We thought we were posh in those days, circa 1960. we've all come a long way since then.

A kitchen today costs many times more than a house did in those days!!

Suppose, in a way, this was fitted. In the late 6o's we still had a 'kitchenette'. No cupboards placed to the wall. The cooker I remember well; I'm looking for one on ebay!!!!! Tea dispenser - well!!! This photo speaks volumes!

We didnt have work surfaces, it was like i think in the picture a waterproof sticky backed patterned covering on a roll, you cut it to size and stuck it on, anyone remember what it was called

I remember the sticky back stuff, it was called fablon. You can still get it. The other surface cover was Formica. You put glue on both surfaces and it bonded immediately, no second chances!!When we were married we had a kitchenette with a drop leaf.Talking about house prices, our first terraced house cost £450 and we had to have a mortgage!

This could quite easily be my parent's kitchen when they lived in Gas Street in Platt Bridge... the layout is exactly the same
