Hi Ron This is where my grandma lived No 2. I used to go for my dinner when I was at Senior School and also when I started work. Good to see it again, I am sure I have it somewhere. Thanks Anne

I lived in the next street wich was cudworth street, the building at the back appears to belong to the canal warehouse.

The road you are looking down in the photo is Pottery Terrace. The road acroos the top is Pottery Road. The houses youy can see back on to the canal (Wigan Pier) If I remember a lady called Mrs Wareing lived at the house in the picture. We used to live in Pottery Terrace

The photo is looking towards the canal! The nearest streets' name alludes me, but, the third street, off pottery street was Cudworth street, and me and two other brothers were born at No. 19. I was born in 1940, my elder brother Brian (deceased), in 1937 and Barry was born in 1949.
The family emigrated to Australia in 1951.
I've been back and found were I was born, and yes the cobble stone streets were still there. I have happy memories of this area, and I was amazed as to close Caroline street public school was!( which wasn't there in 1997.

My grandparents lived in Letterewe street. Joe and Nellie Sweeney. They had 3 sons. Joe (my dad). Bernard and Alec. Bernard and Alec lived in street too with their families. My nans sisters, (Mary Hall), (Norah Sumners), And Maggie Bradshaw). And a brother David Doran lived in the neighbourhood too with their families also many of grandads Sweeney brothers. All split up around Wigan in late 1960s when houses pulled down.

Morning All
My Dad Harry Atherton was born in 1918. The family lived at 19 Cudworth Street also before moving. He attended At Joseph's. Coincidentally Grandma also worked making bomber petrol tanks at the works nearby. Dad showed us the doorstep and hearth of the house when we visited the demolished streets sometime around late 1960's or early 70's. Grandad was a Boilermaker at John Hough and Sons Newtown in 1919.
