Are these pre-fab houses?

Yep... they certainly are pre fabs. A lot of folk would sall their soul to land one of those from the council. I lived in Platt Bridge and we called these the Tin Houses. I *think* they were built soon after the last war as a way to quickly provide housing

They were'nt really prefabs but "tin Houses".Kids used to say "you dont use a key to open your door, you use a tin opener!"The proper prefabs were down Park Lane.

I think that the houses look very nostalgic!! How long did they stay up for? My mum lived in Lamberhead Road in the 1950's when the council houses where new, they also built some pre-fabs down there too!

These houses are still standing and my mum and dad lived in one from new for 46 years.I think they were built in the late 40s.

My family lived at No 11. They were known locally as the 'Tin houses' but they were warm and comfortable. Many happy memories.
