I think the shop in the picture was the drapers. They had a lovely mahogany counter and always wrapped purchases up in brown paper and string.To the left, but out of picture, was the grocery department.By the door was a little kiosk where you collected your divi and milk tokens. The main counter was on the right, on the left was where the bacon was sliced and the butter cut from large blocks and at the back I used to go to get the accumulator filled for the radio. I believe that the manager in the 40s and early 50s was a Mr. Paul Houghton.
Sorry got the name wrong. Manager was Paul Johnson.
what is the number of the house that the women are looking out of. I am trying to find a photo 568 Bolton road, apparently my mother was born there.
