Hey Karen,living in Australia,and seeing Bryn Road,it does make me home sick,great pics thanks for putting them on.
Sorry, thought it was the Hiltons, remember one of them working in Smiths cake shop. I remember a little shop in 25 row, I think two ladies called Sands/Sanders? ran it.think they only sold Bread and Tizer. LOL
Ha-ha-ha I never noticed the bay window. People i remember from the 25 row were George Atherton, Sally English, Annie Bryan, Rita/Alan Lowe, of course your family Linda. my minds gone blank now but i'm sure they will come back to me soon lol
Hi Nyce horse,you were right,one did work at the cake shop,and yes sands did have a shop,and they lived next door but one to us.funny,i still remember from top of the row ,to the bottom,all their names.
Karen, My Aunt& Uncle & cousins the Hiltons lived in the 25 row up to them being knocked down,
I was born at 25 row and lived there with my grandma Brennan until we moved to Landgate
all the kids in 25 row used to rob our bommy
brain a mcguinn ..i did laugh when i read your remarks about the kids from 25 row robbing your bommy. {the things you remember}
Wow. I cannot believe this picture. I lived on 25 Row till I was 18 and went off to University.
Linda, I think I lived next door to you and your parents and brother, between you and the Sands (Margaret, Freda, Jimmy and Mrs Sands). The shop was in the late fifties (possibly into the early sixties).
I can see the corner of Railway Terrace on the left past the old fields where the Flash was, and on the right in the distance are the Police Houses. A bit nearer is the end wall of the cottage (just past the lane up to Garswood Hall Pit) where Mabel and Peggy Keegan lived.
I wonder when the photo was taken. Looks like the sixties to me.
I used to deliver papers for Eric Charnock, the 25 row was on my way back to the shop after delivering Down to the Star then along Nicol Rd to the Drum and back up Long Lane.
