Hello wigan1957. The only one I know for sure is my brother Robert Barnett he's on the right dressed up as a 'pitmon' behind him dressed up as a 'chef' is I think Joseph Atkinson, his mother Emily Atkinson is directly behind him dreesed up as a 'spaniard' . I think his brother William Atkinson is on the left behind the pram dressed up as a 'clown'. I have asked my mother (we are not on the photo as I was ill at the time) but, although she can remember their faces she cannot now recall their names. The picture was taken on the left of Davidson Walk coming down from Buchanan Road.
A few more names to the faces on the photo. The tall lady wearing spectacles at the back is Mrs Jones and her son is in front of her dressed as a footballer, and her daughter Margaret is the one on the left with the pram. No one can recall the names of the lads dressed as cowboys but their mother married a man from Poland, if that jogs someones memory. The May Queen is Mavis Winnard. The lady on the right of the banner holding a baby is Mrs Ashcroft and her son, and May Seddon and her baby son are in the background outside their prefab.
yep the one dressed as a clown is billy atkinson. He will not remember me by name. But he should remember stealing my grandfathers fob watch whilst at st georges school.
So obviously this was before the sunshine houses then? When were the sunshine houses built?
hya donna,we moved out of buchanan rd in 1962 and moved into new sunshine houses in drummond sq,so i would imagine the houses in buchanan was built in the period 1962-1966
william atkinson is the chef, and joseph atkinson is the clown
the cowboys are bernard borcowicz and his brother.
