There were only seven houses on Haig Steet after the 1930's.Here are six of the house wives in about 1956 in their best pinnies.
Back: Mrs Atherton and Winnard
Front:Mrs. Canty, Bentham,Pilkington and Brown.
Another Mrs Brown is missing.
Haig St was named after Earl Haig, the First World War General. It used to be called Dobbs Fold. All the houses were knocked down in the 60's and there are now a few garages and workshops and the car park for "Wigan Pier" etc.

Mrs Brown on the far right is my grandma. Wonderful lady. Alice Winnard (top right) is my auntie and mum of Betty and David Winnard.

Hello Evelyn, a few years ago, I met Jean Parkinson sister of John who has now died, they used to live in Sharp Street, she has everyone's phone number and I asked her to organise a reunion, she said she would think about it, but I have had no word off her, pity, we could have it at the Orwell, next to where we all lived.

Hi Dennis. Been away for a while. Spoke to Betty about Jean Parkinson and she told me that Jean has been very poorly but she thinks she is on the mend.Remember me to Lorna when you are next in touch with her.
