Wallgate before dualling and when Caroline Street was still two way traffic. Taken about 1983 from N.W.Station. Grapes Hotel on right was probably the last remaining pub in lower Wallgate.

I can see what was Wally Mills betting shop on the corner of Caroline St.I think it was one of the first in Town and it put an end to the bookies runner.

May possibly be about 1985 when the B&Q store opened on the site of the former Timberlakes British Leyland car dealer. The Grapes hotel was demolished in 1986 for the new ring road. St Matthew's church spire is visible two miles away. And the Ribble Leyland National bus is one of 687-798, SCK687-715P, UHG716-760R, ACW761-765R, or CBV766-798S, not an earlier 371-460 PTF717-766L, NTC601-640M, going to St Helens, Ormskirk or Southport.
