Where I walked, and drove, 70's & 80's as community police officer for Norley Hall based at Pemberton police station.
Remember it well, together with a lot of lovely people.
I think I must know you Fred, your name rings a bell,or rather the name Freddie Mason does - same one? I lived not far from Helvellyn Road on Lamberhead Road.
i lived here 2 in the 1960s till 1973 at number 56 near the bus terminas do u remember the telephone box at front ov the houses half way down the road in front ov my house it was always ringing drove me mad didnt av far 2 walk though fr a call lol
Yes, I remember the telephone-box. In those days we didn't have a telephone and if a doctor had to be called or call in work sick then the phone-call was made from that telephone-box.
I also lived in Helvellyn Road, and knew Freddie and
Ronnie Mason.
i lived next door to jimmy caddick, and later he joined my school, thomas linacre
James Caddick...I remember you too. Didn't you have a couple of brothers and live in the semi circle on Helvellyn just below the bus stop? Trish...are you in sunny Spain by any chance? Pat, we corresponded a short while ago. I thought you may have been related to John Johnson. Who lives at 74 now?
How good to hear from you all.
Hi Fred, yes I lived in the semi circle, but I had two sisters Mary and Irene.
That's my grandad at the gatepost
Jacqui, if thats your grandad you must be related to Jeff Broadbent.
i knew a Kathleen Melling from Helvellyn rd who was the couson of my first ever girl friend also worked with a guy named Horace Denit what a character he was, ex rl player for wigan highfield and huddersfield and a gem of a guy
