Hope you don't mind, David that I've put this past and present of your 1948 pic in Eccles Rd.

Relative to the top photograph. Can anyone recollect, other than ice cream being for sale in the Mesnes Park café, there being ice cream for sale, on the road, adjacent to the slope, leading up to the swings? I have some recollection of it, but I cannot remember whether it was a motorised vehicle, or a horse drawn vehicle. May be in the late thirties, or late forties.
I was born at no 2 Eccles road the last house on the left My grandad was jack parkinson he had the pens facing the house were he kept hens my grandma's name was Jane
