Here's one of Wallgate. Minorca to the right, Ranicar & Son, top left and the large lamp post in the centre of the road which seems to have gone a few years later.

Keith. Quite a few years later, a bobby,took over from the position of the lamp standard. (traffic control). that, and Library Street junction,were very busy junctions,especially before motorways were built. All traffic travelling north, and south, on the west side of the country,had to come through Wigan.
