Hope you don't mind Ron, I've just tried to give a little more "bite" to your excellent photo of these fine Wigan buildings. Interesting to compare them to the earlier 1870 photo by J Cooper, taken from almost the exact spot, which is on this site.

Growing up in Wigan, The Ship was one of those place "You just don't go in" According to my grandparents it had a pretty murky reputation.
