anglias looked dead smart in those days ,but you had to reset the points every week.
Right Steve, I've got your name now. Your dad of course had a powerful Norton motorbike. Was it the Dominator. I had a Triumph Tiger Cub, which I bought for £50.00 from Mel Wadsworth.
I don't remember Anglias ever looking smart.
The Capri though...........
Jim - Mel didn't get it from my Dad did he? His first bike was a Tiger Cub. I ride bikes now - I've got my Dad's Norton Dominator and a Velocette Venom Clubman, just like he had in the early '60's - that was stolen and he replaced it with the Norton; Anyhow, I restored it 5 years ago back to how it was new - he had first ride.
Steven, don't know where Mel bought the bike. I was working at Irlam Steel Works during our summer holidays, earning £14-10s-0p for a 6 and a half day week, so the bike cost me 4 weeks wages, probably £2000 on today's wages. It was a very reliable machine. I used to travel from Wigan up to Glasgow on it. The bike never flinched, over Shap and Beattock on the A6 and A74, well before the M6 and M74 were built.
And yes, tell me how to get hold of some of those photos that you've mentioned.
Jim; i'll scan them for you - just send me an email
