Is this the church that was situated on the the Darlington Street side of Rose Bridge?. That may be the Empress Mill, in Anderton Street Higher Ince, that can be seen in the back ground.

The white building to the left was the Rose Bridge Inn, till it closed and was eventually re-opened as a printing works, my wife was a Sunday school teacher in that old church, as well as the new one later, the lower part of the church was used on a youth employment scheme for a good few years, till it went the way of all good schemes, not enough funding.

When they were knocking down the Chapel we'd just bought our house in Westwood Lane, the front step was missing. We bought a big section of Chapel step and cut it to fit our house, if anyone wants to walk on it then feel free..No 13..

My granddad Jimmy Cain went to the school behind this church in the 188os/90s. So impressed with the grounding it gave him he sent his son Teddy there. Teddy born 1905

Harry Lancaster changed my life by putting me in for the 11 plus in 1968. Taught me maths and English so I passed the test. Went to Hindley Grammar followed by university and a global career in the oil industry. Remember him also giving me the cane!! A great man.
