A young Henry Meadows being held up by my father, Jack Bowen, landlord of the Crispin Arms (1950 to 1956). The photo was taken in Birkett Street along which the side of the Crispin Arms ran, as it does today. My father is leaning against our car a 1939 Hillman Minx which he brought up from his previous home in Wales in 1950, it was very difficult to get any cars in those days and there weren't many on the road compared to now. I remember we used to go to Woolworths on a Saturday morning before the pub opened and park outside the store with ease.
