Hi Jean great photograph. Can you send a bigger size scan of this photo.? It hasn't changed much over the years except for the deomolition of the Police Station

Nice old photo, love those shop blinds. Are we looking towards Wigan & did the Ribble buses stop on the right going to Ormskirk/Southport ?

Jimmy Stokes greengrocers was there on the left, near the lampost.

I have fond memories of Jack Carringtons toy and jewellery shop near Campbells Chemist, there was a little train in the window which would run if you put an old penny in a slot
which was good for passing the time while you were waiting at the bus stop.

In 1940 ,I was born at Pemberton police station ,coner of woodfield St. My grandad Bobby Morgan loved there
INSPECTER Carrington lived in woodfield st
