Roy Cooke on the left as one of the last men to come up the shaft at Agecroft before they shut the mine down.

This takes me back.
This is Roy Cooke (cookie) on left, and I think Dave Carey. Two fitters from Agecroft pit. I served my time as a fitter there, and worked with them both.

It is Roy & Dave. Roy was from Hindley & Dave from Swinton. I did 30 days face training with Dave as an apprentice at Agecroft this pic is from when I worked there in the late 80's early 90's as they've both got ear defenders on that we're compulsory at that time.
I worked at agecroft colliery from 1962 till 1965 as a bellman on the bin mine face.it was the steepest face I ever been on something like 1 in 3. when travelling down the face you were almost falling over yourself,it was easier to go up the face.but the camaradarie with the men was brilliant.
