I have recollections of salvaging bicyle parts in forshaws yard in the wartime.I also remember a jobless man saying that Forshaws loaned out handcarts for individuals to collect " Rag and Bone" ect,and they paid them for whatever they collected.Recycling in those days I suppose.
ernie owned the rag and bone place for years tommy the tramp also lived there when they knocked the old houses down
