There is some clearing or salvaging work taking place so maybe there was something of value left and many of the buildings are demolished or partly so but even in 1968 we used to play in these tunnels and ruins although I cannot remember such big roofless brick buildings.
The background in the far distant right is the wutchey - without trees growing and just discernible distant left are houses which perhaps are in Cale Lane.
Yea, those houses are Cale Lane alright. A few of the buildings, particularly the one on the right is still standing as rented offices.
That's not Cale Lane those terrace houses are Withington
Lane going towards Jolley's Row and golf link's.the roofless
building was at the side of canal just lower down than the
Commercial Inn.
Sorry i did'nt read text properly cale lane is on the left.
the terraced houses far right are the extension to withington lane.
Me and my fellow Belle Green Laners spent hours 'neestin''in these fields in the 60's. They rang with the sound of 'Skillies' ( Skylarks) and we found a Scribbler's ( Yellowhammer's )nest in the brambles covering the ruins. Marvelous. Thanks for posting,DK.
I think the 'houses' in question on the very far right are actualy office buildings that still stand and also act as offices to this day for Andrew Walkers Industrial Estate.
Withington Lane is not visible in this picture, and houses to the left in the distance are on Cale Lane.
The houses on the left is Cale lane l was born there Jennifer king 1948 87 Cale lane they were condemned and demolished around 1960s
