Nothing much is known about this photo, can anyone shed any light?

I think they were looking for a lost lottery ticket.
Seriously i think these latest batch of pictures of the cleansing dept are really good and extremely enightening as to how things really were all those years ago and the horses also are lovely to see.

Looks like a railway embankment and maybe the factory in Miry Lane in the background.That bit of land always belonged to Wigan Corporation,I think.In the fifties we used to go scavenging in the infill of the old claypit behind the sewerage works.Never found anything of any value though.

Just checked up at the History shop the old tip was situated in Soho St. Newtown
