This is one of 30 Standerwick (Ribble) coaches
that were supplied in the early 1970s for the
Blackpool to London service which called in at
Wigan. These coaches were not as reliable as the
Leyland Atlantean Gay Hostess vehicles that they
replaced, and were withdrawn after 5 and 6 years
of service.

Not Wigan is it!! Every lorry that drives on the M6 at Orrell as no Wigan connection!
Now it the bus was made at Northern Counties, then ok.

Your missing the point Standerwick coaches called in at Wigan everyday so there's the connection

There is amuch connection with Wigan as every picture of some Wiganer on holiday in Blackpool/Benidorm/Butlin's or Borneo. WC Standerwick operated the express services from Wigan to Birmingham and London every day from the 1930s until the 1970s. Some pictures might not be taken in Wigan but the connection prompts debate and memories from others. Many of the vehicles on the M6 never stopped in Wigan, never took Wiganers on holiday or for interviews or to Wembley but Standerwick did.
