Left Mr Johnson, 2nd left possible captain Maypole rugby league team (check Wigan World sport album photo, Maypole Abram) 2nd right Orrell Battersby. Anyone know these chaps?
Bet, Orrell is unusual for a Christian name, did it come from the female side of your family ?
Worked for a period of time with Orrell Battersby, (1950/51, in the No2 pit time office. Jack Roberts was the under manager, of No. 2 pit. The third person from the left, his name may be, or may have been Gregory. At that time he played for Belle Vue Rangers. The person on the extreme right, I forget his name, but he worked, and I believe he was, i/c, the wages office. He had an office above the lamp room.
Sorry for the mistake, the third person from the left is Orrell Battersby. The person that I thought his name to be Gregory, is 2nd from the left. At the time, I remember Orrell lived in Higher Ince, if my memory serves me right, off Ince Green Lane.
DTease, my great grandmothers maiden name was Orrell.

Orrell did live off Ince Green Lane at that time, I am sorry for my mistake I am informed the man on the left is not Mr Johnson.I have heard of Mr Gregory and thanks to you Albert we now know who he is on the photo and it is very interesting to know he played for Bell Vue Rangers,he and Orrell appear on another photo I have posted on Wigan world in the sport album, Maypole Abram rugby league team. Do you know any of the other team members Albert?
I am afraid not Bet. I only can remember your father, and the other one I mentioned, because I worked with them. Your father was my boss at that time. The person on the extreme right, the name Baxendale does seem to ring a bell. Your father was very good with numbers, but it wasn't my niche. After a spell on the haulage, I went as a tunneller, until I left in April, 1953, and went into the R.A.F.
