Ron. In in 1938, the depth, and diameter of No 1 shaft was 18ft in diameter, and 623 yards deep. No 2 shaft was 16ft in diameter, and 590 yards deep. to reach the Haigh Yard, & Arley seams, each shaft had to be deepened. No1 shaft was deepened to 892 yards. No 2 shaft to 887 yards. This was commenced in 1938. I don't have a date of completion, except I know that it was completed.
